Cabinet Division and Kishoreganj District Administration jointly arranged a workshop on creating awareness on National Integrity Strategy (NIS) at Kishoreganj Collectorate conference room on Saturday noon with Divisional Commissioner Md. Helaluddin Ahmed in the chair. Shampod Bareaua, Secretary of the President Secretariat and Md. Mohiuddin Khan, Additional Secretary of Cabinet Division attended as chief and special guest. It was addressed among others by Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas, Police Super Md. Anowar Hossain Khan, Zila Parished Administrator Adv Md. Zillur Rahman, ADC (General) Tarafder Md. Akhter Jamil, Poura Mayor Md. BCL men beat, handover two JUST students to police

Activists of Bangladesh Chharta League, student wing of the ruling party handed over two innocent students of Jessore University of Science labeling them as militants after beating them up on Sunday. The victims – Abir Ahmed, 25 and Shahinur Rahman, 25 students of the Department of Genetic Engineering of JUST were picked up by activists of university unit Bangladesh Chhatra League and beaten up the student wing of the ruling party and then handed over to police, said sub -inspector Kabir Hossain, in-charge, Sajiali police camp. The students told journalists that they were not involved in any political party or militancy. But the BCL men have undertaken from them that they are involved in Islami Chhatra Shibir politics and militancy. The two were later handed over to Kotwali police, the camp in-charge said. The incident took place on Sunday evening. JUST is a politics free university although only BCL enjoys political rights on the campus. A brilliant student was killed by the BCL men for politics. The police, in a separate drive, arrested Shafiar Rahman, general secretary, Basundia union unit Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Sunday evening. Ilias Hossain, officer in-charge, Kotwali police station told that the arrested is an accused in several cases. Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, General Secretary, Jessore district unit BNP said Shafiar is on bails in all the four cases filed against him.
Road crash kills one in Noakhali
NOAKHALI: A man was killed in a road accident at Bagadia on the Chowmuhani-Sonaimuri road under Sonaimuri upazila of the district yesterday morning. The deceased was identified as Abdul Gofur 55, an employee of Sonaimuri Upazila Health Complex and resident of the same area. Officer-in-charge of Sonaimuri Police Station Kazi Haniful Islam said the accident occurred when a mango-laden pickup van hit Gofur in the area at about 8.30 am while he was going to his working place, reprots BSS.
Fugitive murder convict held in Magura
MAGURA: A fugitive convict in a murder case was arrested from Bilnathur village in Shripur upazila on Sunday.The arrested convict was identified as Nazrul Islam, 40, son of Badiar Rahman, a resident of the village.Officer-in-charge of Shripur Police Station Rezaul Islam said on secret information, police conducted a drive in village and arrested Nazrul at night. Police said Nazrul was convicted and sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment in a murder case, reports UNB .
