Pre-polls clash leaves 6 injured in Jhenaidah

At least six persons were injured and four motorbikes vandalized in a pre-polls clash between the supporters of ruling Awami League (AL) and jatiya Party (JP) candidates at Kharibaria village of Sailkupa upzila in Jhenaidah on Sunday night. Injured were rushed to Sailkupa upazila health complex, locals said. Sailkupa police station officer in charge Mahibul Islam said, the supporters of AL (Boat) candidate Sabder Hossain Mollah and JP candidate Mizanur Rahman Babul (bi-cycle) were locked in a clash at the village when they were begging votes in the village. Both groups used lethal weapons during the time left six inured. The police controlled the situation deploying additional forces, the OC said.
Seminar on organic manures held
The participants at a day- long seminar on application of organic manures ensuring soil health was held at the training room of the department of agriculture extension (DAE) in Jhenaidah recently where they emphasised on practice of the same by the farmers intensively.Jointly arranged by DAE Jhenaidah and Earth Lover Fertilizer Limited the seminar was presided over by deputy director of the department of agriculture extension Shah Akramul Haque, deputy commissioner Mahbub Alam Talukder attended as chief guest. Nasir Uddin Bhuiyan, director and technologist of Earth Lover Fertilizer Limited attended as special guest. Ex Director of DAE and Marketing and supply chain Advisor Khairul Abrar presented key note in the seminar. 50 participants including Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation fertilizer dealers, agriculture officers, farmers and nursery owners were present there.
Liberation War Museum held regional confce

The Liberation War Museum, popularly known as the Muktijuddho Jadughar, arranged a day-long regional conference at Aswani Kumar Hall on Friday with more than 200 school teachers and students from six districts of Barisal division. The participated leaders, activists and volunteers of LWM in the programme, called the concerned authorities to preserve the sites related with liberation war, specially the mass killing grounds, in the region to enable people to reflect on the atrocities carried out there and to realise the outcome of hatred and cruelty. The day long programme included talks and discussion on liberation war, exchange of views and experiences, exhibition on books and posters on liberation war, cultural functions, documentary shows etc.
Among others AKM Mahbubul Alam , general manager of LWM, Manabendra Batobayal, freedom fighter and cultural activist, Sushanta Ghosh, Journalist, Rafikul Islam, Ranjit Kumar, regional organisers of LWM, and participated teachers and students, addressed the programme.
Starting its journey on March 22, 1996, the museum does not just preserve history of the glorious Liberation War of 1971 but also through various programmes and activities engages with the new generation to make them aware of the history of their country, the speakers acknowledged.
Through the Outreach programme, started in 1997, students of educational institutions in and around get the opportunity to visit the museum. Through the Reach Out programme, which began in 2001, two mobile museum buses take selected exhibits to schools and colleges in other districts of the country, the speakers added.
