Prize-giving ceremony held at Nandail

A prize -giving ceremony was held at Surasrom Darus Salam Dhakil Madrasah Gangail Union under Nandail upazila in Mymensingh recently. Syed Ashraful Islam Khokon , Chairman of Gangail UP and Chairman of Madrasah Managing Committee presided over the function where Anwarul Abedin Khan Tuhin was the Chief Guest and newly- elected upazila chairman Abdul Malek Choudhary Swapon as special guest. Anwarul Abedin khan Tuhin said , I will try my best for upgrading the education and sports .Among others chairman Mussarof Hossain Press Club Secretary Enamul Hoque Gangail union AwamiLeague ex-General scretary Rafiqul Islam Rafiq. The function was conducted by Super (Acting) AKM Farooq.
BAU observes World Veterinary Day

Faculty of Veterinary Science (FVS) of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) observed World Veterinary Day-2014 on Saturday on the campus with amid festivity. The teachers and students of FVS brought out a delightful procession which paraded important roads on the campus. Later, a seminar on ‘Animal Welfare’, the theme of this year’s World Veterinary Day, held in Microbiology gallery. Dr Md Taohidul Islam, an associate professor, was the keynote speaker while Prof Dr Golam Shahi Alam, Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Science and President of Bangladesh Veterinary Students Association (BVSA) presided over the function. A Syndicate member Prof Dr Md Mansurul Amin of BAU addressed as chief guest when Jahan Ara Begum, an assistant professor, conducted the programme. Prof Dr Md Hasanuzzaman Talukder gave the vote of thanks. Among others, Prof Dr Md Bahanur Rahman, Prof Dr Md Motahar Hossain Mondal, Prof Dr Md Mokbul Hossain and BVSA Vice-President Enam Ahmed spoke.
Imam electrocuted in Rajshahi
RAJSHHAI: An Imam of a mosque died from electrocution at Godagari municipality area here on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Mansur Rahman,58, hailed from Mahishalbari village in Godagari upazila. Locals said when Mansur Rahman was giving Zohr azan he came in contact with a live electric wire and received electric shock. He was rushed to Godagari 31-bed hospital where he died in the afternoon, reports UNB.
Youth’s body recovered from river in N’ganj
NARAYANGANJ: The body of an unidentified youth was recovered from the Meghana river at Korbanpur in Sonargaon upazila here on Saturday night. Sonargaon thana officer-in-charge Md Rezaul Haq said being informed by locals, police recovered the body which was partially decomposed and sent it to 100-bed general hospital morgue for autopsy. Miscreants might have killed the youth 10-15 days ago and then dumped the body in the river, said the OC, reports UNB.
