5 Jamaat-Shibirmen held in Kishoreganj

Law enforcers arrested 5 Jamaat-Shibir activities at Batrish Bilpara area in the town on Monday . Police also recovered 1 motorcycle, 7 mobile sets, many SIM, C.D, Zihadi books, Banded hand bill, Poster in the house The arrested person were identified as District Chattra Shibir Secretary Jahangir Alam (28), Monjurul Islam (26), Ali Hossain Rony (25), Khairul Islam (26) and Faizul Islam (25). On secret information, police raided Akkas Ali’s house led by Senior ASP Fazla Rabbi. They were holding a secret meeting. Kishoreganj Model Thana Officer In-charge Mir Mosharaf Hossain said that the arrested Shibier activities were involved in anti-state activities.
2 killed, 5 injured in Jhenaidah road accidents

Two people including a businessman were killed and 5 were injured in separate road accidents in Kaliganj and Sailkupa upazila in the district on Tuesday night. The deceased were identified as Tushar Hossain, 25, of Alaipur village under Sundarpur union in Kalignaj upazila and Idris Mollah, 34, son of Raihan Mollah, a business man of Jadobpur village under Sailkupa upazila. Anwar Hossain, officer in charge of Kaliganj police said, truck helper Tushar Hossain was taking tea standing beside a tea shop at Kaliganj bus stand on Jhenidah-Jessore highway at about 3.30 am on Wednesday. Suddenly a speedy truck hit him from the back and managed to flee. Local people rushed him to Kaliganj upazila health complex in a critical state. The attending physician declared him dead. Sailkupa police officer in charge Tozammel Haque said, a speedy truck hit a three wheeler locally known as nosimon from the same direction at Ahsannagar village under Sailkupa upazila on Jhenaidah-Kushtia highway leaving six passengers injured at about 6.30 AM. The killer driver managed to flee.

Road mishap kills man in Sylhet

A man was killed and 20 people were injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Mewya area in Beanibazar upazila on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Abdul Hafiz, 40, son of late Abdur Rashid Ali of Mathiura union of the upazila. Injured Saif Alam, 27, Wahif Ali, 40 and Abdun Noor, 45, were sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical Collage Hospital. Witnesses said, the accident took place around 8:30am as the bus driver lost his control over steering, leaving one dead on the spot and 20 others injured. Officer-in-Charge of Beanibazar Police Station Jubed Ahmed said the body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
