Police arrested four youths in connection of amputating wrists of a youth at Natun Hut area under Wazirpur upazila of Barisal. Severely injured youth Sumon Gazi, 29, rushed to Dhaka Pongu Hospital on Tuesday in critical condition. Victim Suman Gazi was son of Sohrab Gazi from Swarupkathi upazila of Pirojpur district and leaving at the house of his maternal uncle at Goria village of Wazirpur, police sources said. Nurul Islam, Wazirpur police station officer in charge, said a group of youths chasing Sumon Gazi to Natun Hut area fully amputated wrist of his right hand and partly amputated elbow of his left hand by chopping with sharp weapons at about 11:00 PM Monday. Locals informed police after the attackers left the place leaving Sumon Gazi on roadside in critical condition. Police rushed to the spot sent Sumon Gazi to upazila health complex and from there to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital. Giving primary treatment doctors of SBMCH referred Sumon to Dhaka Pongu Hospital after his condition deteriorated on early Tuesday and he admitted there on Tuesday morning. Police primarily suspected the incident related with women affairs and arrested four local youths named Titu Haoladar, Mahbub Gomosta, Kawsar Shikdar and Mojibor Haoladar of the area on Tuesday. Preparation of lodging case was going on till this report, said OC of Wazirpur PS.
Jubo Dal leader arrested in Sylhet

Police in a drive arrested a local leader of Jubo Dal from Kalbakhani area in the city on Friday. The arrestee was identified as Kamrul Hasan Shahin. Tipped off, a team of police conducted a raid on Shahin’s house at about 7:00 pm and arrested him, said Gousul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Airport Police Station. Police arrested Shahin in connection with three cases filed over subversive activities during hartal and blockade programme of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, the OC added.
Road mishap kills one in Sylhet
A Labour was killed in a road accident at Kayestorail area Dakshin Surma of the district on Sunday midnight. The victim was Murad Ahmed, 35, son of Abdul lotif of the Khadim Nagar area. Eyewitnesses said a Truck hit at the area while he was Returning his WorkShop, leaving him dead on the spot. Officer-in-Charge of Dakshin Surma confirming the incident said the body was sent to morgue for an autopsy.
2 drug traders convicted in Kachua

A mobile court headed by Md. Majibor Rahman, Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate of Kachua Upazila convicted two drug traders to suffer simple imprisonment for 2 months on the charge of selling drugs on Saturday in the evening. The convicted persons are Halim Bepari (35), son of one late Shamsu Bepari of village Gimtakathi under the same Upazila and Mahabub Fakir (26), son of one Monir Fakir of Kayali under Bhandaria Upazila in Pirojpur district. It is learnt from Md. Shamsher Ali, Officer-in-charge of Kachua PS that on the day the convicted persons were arrested by the officer himself from near the local Baleswar bridge while they were going some where to sell ganja.
Battery run rickshaw pullers vandalise easy bikes in Jessore

At least seven people were wounded in sudden attacks by battery run rickshaw pullers at several places in the town. They also vandalized at least 20 easy bikes protesting at the joint decision of the district administration and Jessore Municipality in which movements of such rickshaws were banned in the town from Friday.
