2000 bottles of phensidyl recovered in Chuadanga
CHUADANGA: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 2000 bottles of Indian phensidyl from Munshipur Muchirbattala under Damurhuda upazila of the district yesterday. Local BGB sources said a BGB team from Munshipur camp recovered the phensidyl from a sand-laden truck. The BGB team headed by Munshipur BGB camp commander Tota Miah, acting on a secret information, rushed to the spot and recovered the phensidyl. The BGB members also seized the truck, reports BSS.
13 BCL men sued, one arrested in Sylhet

A case has been lodged against 13 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and one arrested in connection with an attack on a cultural event at Sylhet Metropolitan City. Officer- in-Charge of the Kotwali Model police station Sohel Ahmed endorsed the information to The journalist.
The arrested BCL activist is Pritom Chakrabarty, the police official said. Injured Metropolitan University student Saimon Mia’s father freedom fighter Johir Alam filed the case against 13 named and 25 unnamed BCL activists on Saturday afternoon. A group of BCL activists led by Parvez tried to enter a musical concert without any ticket. The programe was organised by of Metropolitan University’s musical club ‘Flames’ on Thursday evening. They locked in altercation as the organisers obstructed them from entering the programme without ticket around 8:30pm. Then they stabbed Metropolitan University students Saimon Mia, 23, and Lokman Hossain Nokin, 23. The injured were also activists of Darshandeuri unit of Chhatra League. Following the incident, Darshandeuri group vandalised five vehicles and staged demonstration blocking Bianibazar road around 10:30pm. Sammilito Natya Parishad general secretary Rajat Kanti Gupta and four others were injured in the attack launched by the Darshandeuri BCL unit.
2 held with 700 bottles of phensidyl
RANGPUR: Two persons were arrested and 700 bottles of smuggled phensidyl syrup seized after searching truck at Thana Mour in Gobindaganj upazila town in Gaibandha this noon, police sources said. On a tip off, a special police squad from Gobindaganj Thana challenged a Dhaka bound rice-laden truck (Dhaka Metro Ta 18-4257) from Birampur there and seized the huge quantity of contraband phensidyl, especially packed in two sacs. Police also arrested driver of the truck Shahinur Alam, 30, son of Abul Kashem of village Noyani Khalashpur and helper Hafizur Rahman, 26, son of Afsar Uddin of village Kallyanpur under Birampur upazila of Dinajpur district. Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge of Gobindaganj Thana ABM Zahidul Islam informed local reporters that a case has been filed in this connection, reports BSS.
Tk12.5 lakh shrimp fry seized in Bhola
BHOLA: Coast Guard members seized 2.5 lakh pieces of shrimp fry worth Tk 12.5 lakh from the Tentulia River at Laharhat in Lalmohan upazila early Sunday. The coast guard sources said on a tip-off, a team of the coastguards conducted a drive in the river and seized two trawlers in the dead of night. Later, the team recovered 2.5 lakh pieces of shrimp fry from the trawlers. No one was arrested in this connection. They also released the shrimp fry in the river at about 10:00 am on Sunday, reports UNB.
