Kid drowns in Kulaura

A two-year-old boy named Abu Talib drowned in a pond at Kulaura in Moulvibazar. The incident took place in Gazipur area of Joychandi union of the upazila on Tuesday. He is the youngest son of Abdul Hasim. Joychandi Union 9th ward local UP member. Fazlul Awal said that around 12:30 pm, Abu Talib was fed by his mother and left to play inside the house. As the gate of the house was open, everyone in the family unknowingly fell into the pond next to the house. After searching for about an hour without finding him at home. Then Talib’s body was found floating in the water. He was rescued and taken to the Emergency Department of Kulaura Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Talib dead.
Van puller meets tragic end in Fakirhat

A poor van puller named Abdur Rahim Hawladar (60) met his tragic end when a pointed tip of a bamboo pierced into his chest on Kulna-Mawa Highway at Mulghar area under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Monday noon (at 12 am), according to a report received here. It is learnt from the locals and police that at the noon a rickshaw van laden with a bundle of bamboos was laying at a side of the Highway at Mulghar area and at that time the ill-fated van puller was going from Fakirhat to Falltita fish market by his battery run speeding rickshaw van and when he reached the place of occurrence he lost his control over the van and consequently, it collided with the bamboo laden van. As a result, a pointed tip of a bamboo pierced into his chest resulting him fatally injured. Some locals recovered him from there and admitted him to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex where the physician on duty declared him dead. In this connection a UD case was lodged with fakirhat PS. Deceased Abdur Rahim Hawladar was the son of one Kadam Ali Hawladar of Mulghar area.
Dwelling house gutted in Mongla Port
A tin shed dwelling house belonging to Mohammad Ali Shaikh of Giasuddin Road of Mongla Pourashava and a shoe-shop keeper of Mongla Port town under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat district was gutted when it caught fire on Monday morning (at 11 am), according to a report received here. It is learnt from Md. Mujibor Rahman, Fire Service Station Officer, Mongla that the fire originated from a burning oven of the kitchen spread to its attached tin shed dwelling house and went out of control within moments. Being informed of the matter a local fire service unit rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control before it spread to other adjacent dwelling houses. But in spite of that the tin shed was almost completely gutted with its all belongings including shoes. The loss of fire is estimated at about Tk.1 (one) lakh, according to an assessment done by the local fire service station Officer. It is also learnt that the members of the fire affected family will be given food-help and CI sheets for repairing the gutted house by the local administration.
