Flower Fair ends in Rajshahi

Like the previous years, a five-day ‘One Bank Flower Fair-2020’ was ended in the city aimed at meeting the gradually increasing demand of the flower-loving people yesterday. One Bank Limited and Rajshahi Boikali Sangha (RBS) jointly organised the fair on Moni Bazar premises in the metropolis. Different nursery owners of the city have set up more than 30 stalls displaying a wide range of flowers. The fragrance of different types of roses, marigolds, gerberas, orchids, lilies, tulips, daffodils, petunias, sunflowers, morning glories, poppies, gardenia, bougainvillea, snapdragons, dahlia, nasturtium, begonia, evening primrose, clematis, knight queen, daisies, chrysanthemums, winter flowers, bleeding hearts, cosmos and hollyhock is covered with the area, attracting people to the fair. Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Sujayet Islam and Deputy Managing Director of One Bank Limited Wakar Hassan addressed the inaugural ceremony as chief and special guests respectively with RBS President AYM Moniruzzaman in the chair. Vice-President and Branch Manager of One Bank Limited Abdul Mannan, RBS General Secretary Roisuddin Babu and Fair Convener Shariful Abedeen also spoke.
Drug trader held with heroin in Rangpur

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested an alleged drug trader with contraband narcotics substance from Alamnagar area in the metropolis on Saturday night. “A special operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 conducted a raid and arrested the drug trader with 29 grams of heroin, one mobile phone set, one SIM card and one memory card,” a press release said on Sunday. The arrested person is Md Apel, 30, son of late Ziabul Haque Swapan of Alamnagar College Road area under Kotwali police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP). During primary interrogation, arrested Apel admitted his involvement with trading drugs and narcotics substances in different areas of Rangpur city for a long time. The elite force handed over him to Kotwali police station of RpMP after filing a case.
