One electrocuted in Gafargaon

A carpenter was electrocuted at Hatpara Village under Gafargaon Upazila of the district Mymeningh on Sunday morning. Deceased Kamrul Islam, 32, was the son of late Dulal Miya of the village.Local Union Parishad Chairman Nazrul Islam Tuta said the deceased was repairing Samsuddin’s house roof in the morning. At one stage, he was electrocuted. Later, he died on way to a local hospital. Officer-in-charge of Pagla Police Station Shahinuzzaman Khan said the body was recovered and sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Meeting on law and order held in Mymensingh
MYMENSINGH: A meeting of law and order committee was held in the conference room of Deputy Commissioner here on Sunday. State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid attended the meeting as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Mizanur Rahman in the chair. The meeting reviewed over all law and order situation in the district and took some decision for the next course of actions to improve the law and order in the district. The meeting also discussed on drug issue in the district and took decisions to control illegal drugs in order to save our young generation from its abuse. With the cooperation of the community leaders and public representatives, the meeting asked the law enforcers to take strong measures against the drug peddlers. The state minister laid emphasis on creating mass awareness against drugs and urged the law enforcers to take special campaign in order to root out drug abuse from the society, reports BSS.
Three wildlife traders held in Rangpur
RANGPUR: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested three illegal wildlife traders and seized 31 wild birds and two rabbits worth about Taka 1.07-lakh from their possession from Lalbag Bazaar in the city on Sunday night. “An operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company of RAB-13 arrested the three persons red-handed while illegally trading with the wild birds and rabbits from the spot,” a press release said yesterday.The arrested persons were identified as Mohammad Ali, 25, of New Adarshapara area and Mozammel Hossain, 55, of Deodoba Kamarpara area and Feroz Alam, 40, of Mahiganj area in Rangpur city.The seized wildlife included eight parrots worth Taka 40,000, two ‘Dahuk’birds worth Taka 5,000, 21 ‘Munia’ birds worth Taka 42,000 and two rabbits of foreign species worth Taka 20,000, reports BSS.
