Illegal establishments removed from school premises

A mobile court in an eviction drive, demolished and evicted nine illegal shops and establishments from the land of a Government Primary school in Faridganj Upazila recently . The owners of the shops and other establishments, in a syndicate, erected nine shops and establishments one after the other for the last few years occupying the land of Sholla Government Primary School in Subidpur union under Faridganj Upazila without considering the interest of the students of the school. Despite repeated requests and appeals, the shop- owners paid little heed to the school authorities’ requests. Now an academic bhavan has been allotted by the Government for the school but for want of open space and land, it could not be built due to these nine shops and establishments that illegally occupied huge land of the school hampering the academic activities of the tiny several hundred learners.
Nursing College students boycotts class, exam in Barishal

Nurses studying at Nursing Training College and working at Barisal Sher -E -Bangla Medical College Hospital boycotting classes and professional duty held agitation rally on Saturday to press home their 4-point demands of up-grading service status by creating separate ‘service-cadre’ in Bangladesh Civil Service. The programme was called by Bangladesh Basic Graduate Student Nurses Association (BBGSNA) in front of Barishal Nursing Training College at Barishal SBMCH campus. They declared to continue their agitation programme till fulfillment of their demands. Their four-point demands also included increasing of monthly internship allowance from Tk. 6 thousand to Tk.20 thousand, monthly stipend from Tk. 2500 to Tk. 5000, creation of clinical practice nurse posts in all medical colleges, continuation of old curriculum till reforming new curriculum. Participants of the rally said that it was the demands of nursing students studying at both public and private nursing colleges.
Three drug peddlers held with Yaba in Magura
MAGURA: Police arrested three alleged drug peddlers along with 22 Yaba tablets at Shotokhali in Shalikha upazila on Friday night. The arrestees are-Tanvir Rahman, 38, son of Mijanur Rahman of Gopalpur village, Abdullah, 22, son of Kohinur Islam of Aarpara village, and Mahbubur Rahman, 27, son of Saheb Ali of Bamonpara village. Shalikha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tarikul Islam said police interrogated the trio on suspicion and recovered 22 Yaba tablets from their possession. A case has been filed, he added, reports UNB.
One crushed under train in Chuadanga
CHUADANGA: A man was crushed under the wheels of a train in Alamdanga upazila here on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Shukur Ali, son of Daud Mondol of Majhat village of the upazila. Chuadanga Railway Police (GRP)said being informed by some farmers of Mominpur village police recovered the body from a rail track at 10 am. The body was sent to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital morgue. Mominpur Union Parishad Chairman Golam Faruk Joarder said Shukur Ali might have been hit by Khulna or Rajshahi- bound train last night. Son of the deceased Asif Ali said his father was mentally disturbed over the last few days following a family feud, reports UNB.
