World Water Day observed in Bagerhat

The World Water Day was celebrated in Bagerhat district town in a befitting manner under the auspices of SANAC (Sachetan Nagarik Committee), Bagerhat and with the assistance of TIB (Transparency International Bangladesh) on Sunday. On the occasion a big human chain was formed in front of Bagerhat Press Club in the morning (at 10-30 am). Prof Chowdhury Abdur Rob, President of Bagerhat SANAC while was addressing the human chain as the main speaker told, according to the decision adopted in a meeting of the Environment and Development affair of the UNO (held in 1992), The World Water Day has been observing on March 22 all over the world since 1993. According to the decision of the UNO, it is a legitimate right of each and every people of the world to get safe water. But unfortunately due to ill-planned and ill-management and the change of climate of the world about 40 percent people (of the world) are deprived of safe water. He added, though water is abundantly available in Bangladesh only her 34.6 percent people are getting the safe water at present. So, the main speaker urged upon the all concerned to come forward and take necessary steps so that 100 percent people of the world can get safe water. It was also addressed among others by Prof. ABM. Mosharraf Husain (Vice-president of Bagerhat SANAC). SANAC members Babul Sardar and Shaikh Mujibur Rahman, Rizia Parvin (woman leader), Journalists Shaikh Abu Sayeed and Shaikh Azmal Hossain, Shilpi Aktar and Mukta Aktar (leader of the working woman). The human chain was conducted by Shaikh Bashir Ahmed, Area Manager of TIB. It was attended by the elites of the district town and various organisations including NGO officials and field workers.
Military Hardware Exhibition begins in Jashore

A seven-day Military Hardware Exhibition began at Jashore Cantonment field in Jashore on Sunday organised by Bangladesh Army on the occasion of the Independence Day and National Day today. Jashore Area Commander and General Officer Commanding of 55th Infantry Division Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan inaugurated the exhibition as Chief Guest. This Hardware Exhibition will open for all from 10am to 6pm.
Herbal medicine training held in Khulna
A training programme on qualitative medicinal plants, prime condition for manufacturing safe herbal medicine was held at Khulna Modern Auditorium jointly arranged by the Bangladesh Herbal Products Manufacturing Association (BHMPA) and Business Promotion Council (BPC) under Commerce Ministry recently, says a press release. In the training programme Md Abdur Rashid, drug specialist of Khulna was present as Chief Guest and the function presided over by Dr Anowar Mustaque, General Secretary of BHMPA. Jasim Uddin Choudhury former director of BCSIR, Abul Hossain Khan, Deputy Director of Youth Development Department, Khulna, Dr. Abul Kashem, Vice Principal of Khan Baddur Ahsanullah Homeopathic Medical College and Fatema Binte Rahman, Programme Executive of BPC were also present as special guests. More than 100 participants took part the training session.  
SSC examinee electrocuted in Jashore
JASHORE: An Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinee was electrocuted in Polly area of Keshobpur upazila recently. The deceased was identified as Bablur Rahman, 16, son of Jalil Gazi of the area and an SSC examinee from Narayanpur Secondary School in the upazila. Family members said Bablur came in touch with a live electric wire while trying to plugin in a ceiling fan at his room around 9:30am, leaving him critically injured. Later, he was taken to Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead, reports UNB.
