Seminar on River safety in Kishoreganj held

The National River Safe Commission arranged a seminar on Rivers Safety in Kishoreganj at local collectorate conference room on Thursday. Dr. Mujibur Rahman Howalder, Chairman of the National River Commission attended as Chief Guest while Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury in the chair. It was addressed among others by Commission Member Md. Alauddin as a special guest, ADC (Revenue) Dulal Chandra Sutradhar, Deputy Secretary & ADC (Gen) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil, Bhairab Poura Mayor Advocate Faqrul Alam Akkas, Itna UNO Moshiur Rahman, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, District Press Club Presdient Mostafa Kamal, BWDB Executive Engineer Md. Shafiqul Islam, Bajitpur UNO Farook Ahamed, BAPA Leader Bilkis Begum, Krishak League District Secretary Anwar Hossain Baccu, and River Commission Deputy Director Ashok Kumar Biswas. Later, National River Commission Chairman and others visited Donu , Ghorauthra and Megna rivers.
2nd nat’l triathlon competition begins today

The second national Western Engineering triathlon competition was kicked off at Jashore New Town Park at 9am on Saturday. Mahbub-ul- Alam Hanif, MP, joint general secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League will distribute prizes among winners at 3pm on the day. A total of four events will be taken place on the day including two groups of girls and two groups of boys- senior and junior are scheduled to take part in the competition. In the competitions, senior group will swim 750 metre, cycling 20 kilometre and 10 kilometre of race while the under 14 junior group will swim 750 metre, cycling 10 kilometre and 3 kilometre of race. The information was revealed at a press conference held at Jessore New Town Degree College on Thursday. Amirul Islam, member secretary tournament committee, SM Al Mamun, president, Bangladesh Triathlon Association, Jessore district unit, MA Mannan, general secretary, Sirajul Islam and Monirul Arefin were present at the press conference.
Free heart camp held in Moulvibazar

A free heart camp was held here on the occasion of centenary birth anniversary of General Ataul Gani Osmani on Friday.Over 100 patients received treatment free of cost at the camp held in Moulvibazar Club premises. Brigadier Abdul Malek, the founder of National Heart Foundation, inaugurated the camp as the Chief Guest. Among others, Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Md Tofael Islam, members of the Osmani Centenary Birth Anniversary Committee were present. General Osmani was the commander in chief of Bangladesh forces during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971.
Youth’s body found in in Natore
NATORE: Police recovered the body of an unidentified young man from Chalan Beel at Ruhai village in Gurudashpur upazila on Friday night. Anwarul Islam, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Gurudashpur police station, said that locals found the body of the youth, aged about 30, packed in a sack around 9 pm and informed police. Later, police recovered the body, reports UNB.
