Van puller electrocuted in Fakirhat

Mintu Shaikh (30), a van (runs with battery) puller and son of one Ahammad Sheaikh of village Choto Bahirdia under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat t met his tragic end when he was electrocuted at the time of charging battery on Monday in the evening. Locals informed that in the evening ill-fated Miutu Shaikh went to a neighbouring house and when he tried to connect the chargeable battery of his van with electricity for storing electricity in it, some how. he came to the contact of electricity and consequently, he was electrocuted. He was rushed to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Stalker sentences for teasing madrsa-girl

A mobile court in Gournadi of Barisal sentenced a stalker for teasing a madrasa girl on Tuesday. Abul Kalam, Gournadi police station officer in charge , said Saiful Islam, a construction worker and son of Abdus Salam Fakir of Kataksthal area, reguarly teasing a class-VIII girl student ( Afrosa Aktar,14) of Sundardi Gausia Abedia Sunnia Dakhil Madrasa in Gournadi municipal town. On Tuesday morning Saiful at Nabinagor area tried to bar the girl from going madrasa and local people then detaining Saiful informed police. Police rushed to the spot arresting Saiful placed before the mobile court led by upazila nirbahi officer Masud Hasan Patowary. The court sentenced Saiful to one-year imprisonment and police sent him to Barisal jail on Tuesday afternoon, OC Gournadi PS told .
Reconstructed MC College hostel opens

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated reconstructed hostel of Murari Chand College (MC College) Wednesday. The hostel was burnt by Bangladesh Chhatral League (BCL) activists on June, 2012. In the programme the minister said, ‘The government is working relentlessly to improve quality of the country’s education system’. Digitalisation of the education system is being done and aiming to this attempt, already 20500 classrooms have been digitalised and about 3,000 schools were given electricity connection for the purpose. Later the minister visited some rooms of the hostel after inauguration. MC College Principal Nitai Chandra Chanda, AL Central Organising Secretary Misbah Uddin Seraj, AL Sylhet City Unit President Bodor Uddin Ahmed Kamran were present, among others.
Woman held with 1,000 yaba pills in Pirojpur
PIROJPUR: Police in a drive arrested a woman along with 1,000 pieces of Yaba tablet at Jamirtala in Bhandaria upazila on Saturday morning. The arrestee was identified as Selina, wife of Riad Talukder of Galua union in Rajapur upazila of Jalokathi district. Acting on secret information, a police team conducted a raid on the house of Mainul, a Saudi expatriate, at the village around 9.00 am and arrested Selina along with the Yaba pills wrapped in five polythene bags, said Abdul Haque, sub- inspector of Bhandaria police station. Selina along with her husband Riad had long been involved in Yaba peddling, the police officer added. In a drive, police arrested Riad three days back, reports UNB.
Man ‘commits suicide’ in Magura
Magura: A man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his house at Mollahpara in Sadar upazila on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Mustafizur Rahman, 45. Quoting family members, Jahangir Alam, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, said Mustafizur killed himself due to frustration following financials loss. Police recovered the body.
