Schoolboy ‘commits suicide’ in Sylhet

A school boy reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room in Dewannagar village of Biswanath Upazila on Friday.The deceased, Nuruzzaman,14, son of Fatik Mia of the village, was a Class-VIII student of PMC High School of the area. Family members found Nuruzzaman hanging around 8am at his room and took him to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead, police said quoting family members. The body was sent to the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
Mother-daughter robbed of cash , ornaments in Bagerhat

Miscreants robbed mother and daughter of cash Taka and gold ornaments by making them senseless. The incident took place in the village Kaninagar within Chanpai Union under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday night . In this connection one Topu Biswas (30) was arrested by the police from the local bus stand in the following morning. The arrestee is an accused in the murder case of an easy bike driver in Mollahat Upazila in the district. It is learnt from the police that the arrestee went to the house on Wednesday afternoon to pay visit there taking the opportunity of his pre-acquaintance with the inmates of the house. But in the evening the man mixed something like seductive with their food very tactfully and without the knowledge of the inmates. At night the inmates took the food and fell asleep. Then the man alone or along with some others decamped with cash Taka, gold ornaments and some other valuables. The housewife Debala Goldar (50) and her daughter Dolly Goldar (25) were found unconscious in their house in the morning. They were sent to Mongla Upazila Health Complex for their treatment. In this connection a case will be registered with the local PS after they regained their sense. Though the man was arrested but the booty could not be recovered.
Cop arrested with Yaba in Mymensingh

Police arrested Mokhseddul Islam, a police member working for Mymensingh Police Lines, with 820 pitch yaba on Wednesday night. Constable Mokehsehul Islam (32) was arrested along with two others. They are resident of the college road area, Sourav (20) and resident of Sunamganj, Debashish (25). 800 yaba were recovered from their bodies. Three people were arrested from Naomahal Sarada Ghosh Road area. Sub-inspectors (TSI) Faruk Hossain said that on the basis of secret information, three people were arrested after the raid on the city’s Nawamahal Sarada Ghosh Road. Kotwali Model Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudul Islam told reporters that the Superintendent of Police Syed Nurul Islam took zero tolerance status regarding the drug. No one will be given a discount on drug. A case has been filed with the Kotwali Model Police Station against drug addicts. It is to be noted that the SP Syed Nurul Islam in drug control has declared no compromise on drugs. Legal action will be taken against the drug dealer or policeman involved with the drug dealer.
3 held with pistol, bullet in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: Police in a drive arrested three young men reportedly with a pistol and seven bullets from a bus at Kanta in Gobindaganj upazila early Saturday. A team of police raided the Dhaka-bound ‘Nabil Paribahan’ bus from Dinajpur and arrested the three young men –Kawser, Towfik and Habibul — from the bus along with the pistol and bullets, said Mujibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Gobindaganj Police Station, reports UNB.
