Police intercept BNP procession in Jessore

The police arrested Kazi Azam, General Secretary, Jessore Sadar Upazila Unit Bangladesh Nationalist Party after foiling a procession of the party from near Jessore Press Club at around 10am on Tuesday.Sub inspector Manik Chandra Gyen of Kotwali police station told that BNP leader Azam was picked up from a procession for ‘creating anarchy’ from near Jessore.Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, general secretary, Jessore district unit BNP told that Azam was detained from a peaceful procession demanding the release of its chairperson Khaleda Zia. ‘The police are acting as Awami League men now,’ he added.He also demanded the release of all the party leaders and activists including Azam.

Questions paper leak gang member held in Kishoreganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalian (RAB- 14) detained a member of the gang involved in leaking question papers of ongoing HSC exams in Josodal Bazar of Kishoreganj on Tuesday afternoon. The arrested was identified as M Zakir Hossion Rydoy (Joy Khan) (20) son of Joynal Abedin Bhabunindiya village in Josodal Union under Kishoreganj Sadar. He was nabbed in a drive conducted in Josodal Bazar of Kishoreganj Sadar on Tuesday noon, said RAB- 14 Kishoreganj Commonding Officer Md. Shovon Khan.Two mobile sets and 5 SIM cards were seized fro his possession. A case was field in this connection against Zakir, under ICT Act with Kishoreganj Model Police Station, said RAB official. Efforts are under way to nab others members of the same syndicate. The arrested youth was sent to Kishoreganj District Jail.

Land Service Week begins

Kishoreganj District Administration arranged rally, discussion, mela, and cultural function marking the Land Service Week- 2018 yesterday . A discussion meeting was held at Local Collectorate Conference Hall. DC Md Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury attended as Chief Guest while ADC (Revenue) Dulal Chandra Sutradhor in the chair. It was addressed among others by ADC (General & DS) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil, ADC (Education & ICT) and D.S Golam Md. Bhuiyan, Senior Megistrate Abu Taher Sayeed, UNO Abdullah Al-Mashud, RDC Farhana Ali, Sadar A.C Land Abul Hasam, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Police Inspector Arifur Rahman and Khango Rafiqul Islam. A colourfull rally brought out in the town marking the day led by DC Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury.

Yaba trader convicted in Satkhira

A court has sentenced a Yaba trader, Ziaur Rahman, (38) to two years in jail on Monday . Mobile Court Judge Executive Magistrate Tala Upazila Executive Officer Md. Farid Hossain gave the order. The arrested person is son of Abdur Razzak of Kanai Dia village under Asami upazila. Sources said , a mobile court team arrested the person with 10 pieces of Yaba tables in an operation in Tala Bazar. Later, Bhramaman was placed in the court and Judge Farid Hossain awarded him a free sentence in two years. Present on the occasion, SI Mahfuz of Tala Police Station, constable Saiful Islam, and the Bench Assistant of the Upazila Executive Office were present. Tala Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasan Hafizur Rahman confirmed the matter.

e-mutation training workshop begins in Sadullapur

GAIBANDHA: A four-day long training workshop on e-mutation for the service providers began at the hall room of Sadullapur upazila parishad in the district on Tuesday aimed at providing services to the people through digitized system. Land Reformation Board, Access to Information (a2i) programme of Prime Minister Office, and upazila land office jointly has organized the training.
