Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage said on Sunday he was increasingly concerned that a vote for Britain to leave the European Union could be overturned by a powerful group of the bloc’s supporters.
In an interview with Britain’s Observer newspaper, Farage, former head of the euroskeptic UK Independence Party, said a well-organized and funded group of campaigners that wants to remain in the EU was drowning out those who want to leave.
Iraqi PM to seek re-election

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced on Sunday his candidacy for the May 12 parliamentary elections to choose a prime minister. Abadi, a Shi’ite Muslim who led the country in the four-year war against Islamic State, said he will seek to form a cross-sectarian block called “the victory alliance” to contest the parliamentary elections, with candidates from other communities.
Fire kills eight in Portugal

Fire ripped through a local community centre in northern Portugal late Saturday, killing eight people and injuring another 50, police said. “Around 70 people were having dinner in the building when the fire broke out and we have a number of dead people as well as between 50 and 60 people injured,” civil protection chief Paulo Santos told AFP.
Smog to blanket parts of China

Light to moderate smog will blanket parts of northern, central and southwestern China from Sunday to Wednesday, the top observatory said Sunday.
Affected regions include Chongqing municipality and provinces of Anhui, Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi and Sichuan, said the National Meteorological Center.
California mudslides death rises to 19

Authorities in southern California raised the death toll from mudslides that battered the region to 19 on Saturday as rescue workers continued the search for victims.
Five people are still missing after the mudslides, according to an update on the County of Santa Barbara’s website.
