Warehouse gutted in Rangpur

A devastating fire broke out area outskirts of the city on Thursday night and set ablaze a warehouse and raw materials and other valuables inside it. According to the Fire Service, Rangpur station on information nine unit of Fire Brigade from Rangpur and adjacent district reached the spot tried to douse the fire for about three hours and control the fire. Dhap police post in charge, Sub-inspector Deebakor Ray said, locals and nine fire service units brought the fire under control after three hours hectic effort. Senior Station officer, Rangpur Fire Service Station, Saydur Rhaman said, the reason of firing could not be known. Investigation is going on. The fire might have been occurred from electric short circuit, we primarily assumed. The factory owner, Kamal Ahamed could not be reached for his comment.
Programmes to observe V-Day in Khulna
KHULNA: Khulna district administration sets programmes to celebrate December 16 the 46th anniversary of the Bangalee’s glorious victory over the Pakistani occupation forces with the spirit of Liberation war. To observe the day elaborate programmes have been taken up at a meeting recently with DC Amin-ul-Ahsan in the chair. Elites, officials, educationists, journalists, political and cultural activists of the city attended in the meeting. On the day wreaths will be placed on the monument of Shaheed martyrs of Gallyamari at 6 past one on December 16. The day will be heralded by a 31-gun salute at dawn at the Khulna Police Line Ground. Khulna divisional commissioner Md. Lokman Hossain Mia will hoist the national flag at Khulna Zilla Stadium and take salute from the parade. Khulna Shishu Academy will organize an art and painting competitions for children on the occasion. A discussion meeting and an honour reception programme to the freedom fighters will be held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner. Programmes include hoisting of national flags atop of all public and private buildings at dawn and placing of wreaths by the people of all walks of life at the Gallyamary monument on the day. Special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, churches and other religious institutions seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country. Improved diet will be served at all hospitals, orphanage centers and jail to mark the day, reports BSS.
Youth commits suicide in Pabna
PABNA: A young man allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself at Chatiani of Pabna municipality on Friday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Babu Khandaker, 20, son of Moni Khandaker. Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Pabna Police Station, said Babu opened fire on his chest himself and died on the spot.On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital. Police also seized his pistol. Victim’s father filed an unnatural death case. Babu was accused in two cases, reports UNB.

At this mini-Marathon , Md. Arif Hasan, has been placed first position, Nuruzzaman ,Second position, and Ridhoy Mea , got third position among the competitors . People from all walks of life participated in Mini-Marathon . Abdul Jalil teacher of Gafargaon Govt Islamia High School conducted the race. Dr.K.M.Ehsan Adv. president of Gafargaon Anti corruption Committee presided over the discussion meeting. UNO Dr.Shamim Rahman, Deputy Director Md.Jahangir Alam of Mymensingh Zone, Asst.Director Md.Masudur Rahman, Asst.Director -Ratan Kumar Das of Mymensingh Anti-Corruption Commission , former Pouro Mayor Md. Monjur Mea , Saltia union Chairman Md.Nazmul Haque Dhali, spoke in the discussion meeting against corruption. Md.
