Passport service week launched in Jhenaidah

Passport service week was launched at regional passport office on Sunday. Deputy commissioner Mahbub Alam Talukder launched the programme at Natun Courtpara in the town as chief guest. Additional deputy commissioner (general) Abdur Rauf Mandal, assistant director of Jhenaidah regional passport office Bazlur Rahman and a number of clients and employees of the officer remain present there during the programme. The deputy commissioner urged upon the officers and staff of the office to discharge their duties with due responsibility to the people as the government had taken zero tolerance following any irregularities by any of the service providers of republic. The chief guest advised the clients to cooperate the people working in the office for the service to people.
Sports competition held at RS College in Kishoreganj

The annual sports competition of R.S Ideal College in Kishoreganj was inaugurated at college play ground on Saturday noon. Youth & Sports Secretary Kazi Akhteruddin Ahemed attended as chief guest while college Principal Gulshan Ara Begum in the chair. Acting Deputy Commissioner Tarafder Md. Akhter Jamil, Governing Body President Adv Ahaur Rahman, Daily Shatabdir Khantho Editor Ahamed Ullah, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Retd. Superentendent Md. Jasim Uddin, Executive Engineer of Education Engineering Md. Tozul Islam, Assistant Professor Abul Kashem and Deputy Director of Youth & Sports Rokan Uddin Bhuiyan were also present on the occasion. Releasing hundreds colourful ballons and pigeons as chief and special guest. Youth & Sports Secretary Kazi Akhteruddin also took salute of play ground. Students of the college participated the many events. The chief guest and others guest also distributed prizes among the winners and participants of different events.
2 candidates fined Tk 7 thousand
The mobile court of Election Commission (EC) fined Tk. 7 thousand to two upazila chairman candidates in Hossainpur Upazila areas of Kishoreganj District on Friday for violating electoral code of conduct. The Mobile court led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) & Executive Megistrate Shohana Nasrin drive. In Hossainpur Upazila Chairman candidate Md. Johirul Islam Mobin of BNP fined Taka 6 thousand and Nurur Rahman of Awami League fined Taka one thousand the violating electoral code of conduct.
Sewing machines distributed in Sirajganj
SIRAJGANJ: A total of 127 sewing machines were distributed free of cost among distressed women of the district today to help mitigate their financial crisis. Zila parishad chairman also president of the Zila Awami League Alhajj Abdul Latif Biswas distributed the machines among the trained women of different upazilas of the district at a simple function on the Zila parishad premises. The sewing machines were distributed by the Zila Parishad among the women to help them for augmenting their income. Chief executive officer of the parishad Mahabub Alam, Advocate Panna Abdul Hannan and Gazi Abdul Hamid were present, among others, reports BSS.
Gold ornaments, cash looted from Patuakhali jewellery shop
PATUAKHALI: A group of robbers looted a huge amount of gold ornaments and cash from a jewellery shop at Kundupatti Road in Bauphal municipality on Saturday evening. Krishna Saha, manager of Bina Jewllers, said a group of 7-8 men entered his shop in the disguise of buyers. Soon after entering the shop, they put on masks and blasted 5-6 hand grenades in and around the shop, leaving four staffs of the shop including Saha injured. Later, the hoodlums looted a huge amount of gold ornaments and cash from the shop keeping the manager and other staffs at gunpoint and fled the scene by blasting hand grenades, reports UNB.
