Hilsa caught in a shrimp farm in Chitalmari
Bagerhat Correspondent
A flock of king sized hilsas were caught in a fishing net in a lobsters farm belonging to one Sadhan Adhikari of Sadar Union Parishad under Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat district on Saturday, according to a report received here. Sadhan Adhikari disclosed to the locals, on the day in the morning I went to my lobster farm along with a number of persons to catch lobsters and other species of fish from there. They caste fishing nets in the fish farm and a flock of hilsa fishes, each weighing more than 1 kg, were caught along with other fishes. At first they could not believe that they are genuine hilsas. But later it was proved that they are all hilsas. Sadhan Adhikar kept 2 pieces for his consumption and the rest were released in the lobster farm. Being informed of the matter a number of curious people rushed to the spot to see the hilsa fish. It is guessed by Sadhan Adhikari, at the time of collection of lobster fries from the sea hilsa fries might be mixed with lobster fries and they were released in his fish farm in the last year. But according to the majority people of the locality, a few weeks ago the area was flooded with incessant rain accompanied with onrush of the sea water and a flock of hilsas were, perhaps, swept away to the lobster farm and when the water receded the hilsas were confined in the fish farm.
