Bhabadah affected people form human chain in Jessore

People of Bhabadah affected area formed a human chain in front of Jessore Pres Club on Monday noon. The human chain demanded mitigation of water and immediate solution to water clogging problem. Ranjit Bauwali, Baikuntha Bihari Roy, Chaitanya Kumar Paul, Anil Biswas, Abu Bakr Siddiqui spoke during the human chain arranged by Bhabadah Movement Committee. Around 10 lakh people of Abhaynagar, Monirampur and Keshabpur upazilas are suffering from water logging problem. At least 16 people died due to the problem
3-wheeler drivers protest plying of Leguna

Mahendra (Three-wheelers) drivers blockaded Khulna-Jessore Highway from 12.30pm to 2.15 pm yesterday in protest against plying of Leguna (12 seated passenger laden pick ups) at the order of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) authorities. Traffic congestion has been created due to blockade by the three wheelers. People suffered much as vehicular movements disrupted during the blockade. Three wheeler drivers alleged that suppressing the decision made in a meeting with a local MP, Khulna Metropolitan Police authorities gave order to ply Leguna. In spite of the fact that the three wheeler drivers association applied to the deputy commissioner (DC) of Khulna and also to the Police Commissioner Nibash Chandra Majhee, but due to unknown mysterious reason, all on a sudden , Leguna started to ply on Khulna-Jessore highway. For this reason, three wheeler drivers began to block the highway from Dukbanglo to Phulbarigate area in the city, said Jahirul Islam Pannu, general secretary of the three wheeler drivers association.
Media help to recover grabbed land in Barisal sought

Barisal Zilla Parishd administrator exchanging views with the journalists appealed before media for help and cooperation to recover properties of Zilla Parishad illegally occupied by land-grabbers. He praising role of BRU assured all possible sorts of cooperation to develop constructive criticism in journalism.
Left leaning student leader detained at RU over fb post

 A leader of Biplabi Chhatra Moitree of Rajshahi University unit was detained on Sunday for making some facebook posts on the prime minister’s stance over Rampal power plant. The detained leader, Dilip Roy, is the general secretary of Biplobi Chhatra Maitri RU unit and also a final year student of economics department of the university. He was picked up by the Motihar Thana Police after few hours of publishing his statuses.Humayon Kabir, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station told New Nation that they detained Roy to calm the situation as many went to outrage following his comments on facebook.”A case was also filed against him by Rashedul Islam Ranju, president of Bangladesh Chhatra League RU unit under ICT Act”, he also said.In his facebook wall, he wrote, “Prime Minister Hasina, you may probably want to see another Phulbari. So, congratulation to you. Nation, of course, will be obliged to you for gaining your experience”.

After 15 minutes, he gave another status where he said, “”I even cannot write down at dog’s body that he does Awami League so that he would be ashamed.” After few minutes he posted another status where he said, “Prime Minister, have your Hurricane been ready? See–you share may be stolen. Then you would tell with regret (Your fathers’ dialogue)”. Eyewitnesses said that a team of Mothihar Thana Police detained Roy from Amtola of the university while he was drinking tea. Protesting his detention, leaders and activists of Progressive Students Alliance, a platform of four left leaning organisation of the university, brought out procession and held a short rally on campus from where they demanded immediate release of Roy. Addressing the rally, Pradip Mardi, president of RU unit Biplobi Chhatra Maitry said some comments may go against anyone of the ruling party. One can criticize about one’s position.
