A new trust fund titled “Farid-Shireen Trust Fund” has been set up at the Faculty of Arts of Dhaka University (DU).
Canadian Bangladeshi national Md Farid Miah handed over a cheque for Taka six lakh to the DU treasurer Professor Dr Md Kamal Uddin on Monday at the Vice-Chancellor’s (VC’s) Office to set up the trust fund.
VC Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman and donor’s wife Mrs Shireen Farid were present on the occasion.
Out of the income of this donation, every year four poor but meritorious students from the various departments under the Faculty of Arts of the university will be awarded “Farid-Shireen Trust Fund” scholarship. Physically challenged and female students will be given priority in this regard.
