Chinese vessel MV DIBU-3 anchored at Chattogram Port beside the New Mooring container terminal on Wednesday evening at about 5 pm . Port sources said the specialized Chinese vessel arrived at outer berth on July 22 last and it was brought in inner berth on Wednesday . This gantry cranes laden vessel were brought at inner berth with the supervision of two experienced pilot of the port .
The Dibu-3 anchored very carefully without hampering the movement of other incoming and outgoing vessels, port sources said. Saif Power Tech will operate these new gantry cranes, said Capt. Tanveer Hossain to media persons .
These cranes will handle the bigger container vessels .
Saif Power sources said after experimental operations, these cranes will operate from second week of August, they hoped. Capt Tanveer also told that there were 10 key grantry cranes in port for container handling from the gearless vessels. According to port statistics, 4 cranes operating in CCT, 6 operating in NCT and the these newly procured will be deployed in NCT No,1 and 2 berth, two each berth.
