Newly appointed Bangladesh High Commissioner (HC) to Singapore Mustafizur Rahman made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Thursday.
During the meeting, the President asked the high commissioner to work for strengthening further the existing relations between Bangladesh and Singapore. He also asked the envoy to work for the welfare of Bangladesh migrant workers in Singapore.
The President advised the high commissioner to take steps so that Bangladesh can export more manpower to Singapore.
Mustafizur Rahman said that he would play a role to boost the bilateral cooperation between the two countries. He sought the President’s cooperation in discharging his duties in Singapore.
Later, the executive committee of the Officers’ Club, Dhaka made a courtesy call on the President at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, the delegation led by chairman of the club cabinet secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam apprised the President of its different activities and invited him to attend its 50 years’ celebration programme to be held in 2017.
President Hamid who is also the chief patron of the club asked the delegation to work for turning it into a centre of education and entertainment.
