Health Experts have said, intermittent rain may cause water stagnant here and there, especially in locked houses.
They said that the monsoon drizzling creates risk of another dengue outbreak.
“Heavy rain can wash away stagnant water and its mosquito breeding hotspots. On the other hand, the drizzling helps the mosquito breeding, as the small rainfall creates many small stagnant water bodies here and there. It can produce huge number of Aedes mosquitoes, which are the lone carrier of dengue and chikunguniya diseases,” Dr. Mukhlesuz Zaman Hero, former Deputy Director of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital told The New Nation.
He said that in most of the cases, such stagnant water are clean and suitable for aedeses mosquito breeding.
On the other hand, in many cases, people who left their city or town residents used to keep buckets and other pots in bathrooms open keeping full of clean water.
Such things also hiked the threat of aedeses mosquito breeding during the Eid vacation.
Health officials from Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporations said that they are aware of what is to be done prevent spread of dengue fever once again.
They said that their employees are actively spreading pesticides in every area in the both cities jurisdictions.
The health officials, however, said that only their efforts are not enough to kill the aedese growing.
Dr.Fazle Shamsul Kabir, Chief Health Officer of DSCC, told The New Nation on Thursday, “We cannot enter the people’s residents. They should be aware enough of what is to be done.”
Dr.Fazle Shamsul Kabir said that, allmost all of their 1050 mosquito eliminating workers are in work during the Eid vacation to curb the risk of Aedece breeding in the time.
