A Nepali student studying at a medical college in Sylhet has been missing since November 9.
The student identified as Sawgat Gyawali, 26, a student of North East Medical College.
The college administration filed a general diary with South Surma Police Station in this regard on November 15.
According to college sources, Sawgat used to live in a hostel on the college premises. The hostel authorities found his room locked since November 9.
The hostel supervisor Professor Nazmul Islam admitted it and said that a
case had been filed in this connection. Another Nepali student of the college Bishal Shawrma said he had spoken to Sawgat’s father who had informed him that the family was unaware of their son’s whereabouts as well.
Police Station’s Assistant Commissioner Mostafizur Rahman claimed that Sawgat Gyawali first took a flight from MAG Osmani International Airport to Dhaka and boarded another from there in route to Kolkata on November 9 around 7:30am.
“On November 21, the Immigration Police gave us documents that prove Sawgat’s departure. But we have not been able to reach him in Kolkata either,” he said.
The Immigration Police found this tracking the passport and cell phone of the 26-year-old, son of Ram Prashad Gyawali, he added.
