Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) kill 40 million people each year which is 70% of the total deaths. Almost three quarters of NCD deaths that is 28 million occur in low- and middle-income countries, says a press release.
Since the 25thof August 2017, more than 858,000 Rohingya refugee women, men, girls and boys from Myanmar are hosted in Cox’s Bazar.
This project entitled “Capacity Development for Combating Non-Communicable Diseases in Rohingya Population” has the capacity to intervene in the Rohingya camp and build capacity of the existing health service providers regarding prevention and control of major NCDs like diabetes, hypertension and hyperglycemia in pregnancy.
As a part of implementation of this project funded by World Diabetes Foundation, a meeting of Core Working Group was held at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS). Expert panel from BIHS Hospital, BIRDEM, BSMMU and BUHS were present in this meeting.
