Bangladesh Navy bagged gold medal in the Men’s Basketball Competition of the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games after edging past Bangladesh Army by 57-52 points in the final at Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium on Thursday. Bangladesh Army won silver medal in this event.
Shoaib of Bangladesh Navy top-scored with 22 points and his teammate Mithun caged 13 points.
Tonu of Bangladesh Army netted 22 points and his teammate Barkat scored 10 points.
Rajshahi district team earned bronze medal in this event.
After the entertaining final match, Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association Syed Shahed Reza distributed the medals and certificates among the winners as the chief guest.
President of Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF) Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Vice-President of BBF Mainul Ahsan Monju, General Secretary of BBF and Secretary General of South Asian Basketball Association Lieutenant Commander (Retd) AK Sarkar were present at the time.
