The 27th “National Fisheries Week-2019” will be observed across the country from July 17 to July 23. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to formally inaugurate the week and release fish fries in pond at Ganabhaban in the morning on July 18, said a press release here on Monday.
The premier will distribute National Fisheries Award 2019 among 17 institutions and individuals for contributions to the fisheries sector. On July 17, a colorful procession led by State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Md. Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru will be brought out from the city’s Matsya Bhaban.
The information was revealed on Monday at a preparatory meeting chaired by the state minister at his office.
A weeklong fisheries fair will be held on the premises of the Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh (KIB) here. Besides, three-day fisheries fair will be arranged at district level. A five-day technology based fisheries fair will be held at Mymensingh.
President M Abdul Hamid and Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will also release fish fries in ponds at the Bangabhaban and Jatiya Sangsad respectively to mark the National Fisheries Week. Fish fries will also be released in ponds, haors, canals and rivers across the country during the week.
