Nasir Hossan’s unbeaten ton rescued Rangpur Division from collapse as Rangpur scored their first innings at 264 for 4 at stumps against Barisal Division on the second day of tier-1 sixth round of 19th National Cricket League on Thursday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
The dependable all-rounder Nasir played a responsible 101-off 167 runs laced with 12 boundaries and two over boundaries and during the process he also shared useful 79-run fourth wicket stand with Nayeem Islam who chipped away 54 runs, after Rangpur slipped 3 for 81 runs.
Monir Hossain was the most successful bowler as he claimed three wicket conceding 69 runs.
Earlier, Barisal Division resumed their first innings on the second day with overnight score at 280 for 6 and finally all out for 335.
Tanvir Haider, Subashish Roy and Ariful Haque all shared three wickets each giving away 53, 54 and 68 runs respectively.
Chittagong take 267-run lead

A five-wicket haul by Iftekhar Sajjad Rony helped Chittagong Division to take an overall 267-run lead over Sylhet Division on the second day of the tier-2 sixth round of four-day National Cricket League on Thursday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet.
Back with a 78 runs first-innings lead, Chittagong Division started their second innings in the afternoon and scored 189 for 5 at stumps at the courtesy of Jasim (56) and Siddikur Rahman’s (54) half centuries.
Yasir Ali and Sayeed Sarkar were on the crease with 14 and 13 runs as the stumps were drawn for the day.
Ebadat Hossain bagged two wickets conceding 42 runs.
Earlier, Sylhet Division dismissed their first innings at a paltry total of 137 in reply to Chittagong’s first innings total of 215. Thanks to Iftekhar for his five-wicket haul that gave his side to take a first innings lead.
Apart from Iftekhar’s five for 423 runs, Mehedi Hasan Rana claimed three wickets for 30 runs.
Rajshahi fight back after Taijul’s 5-wicket on day 2

A five-wicket haul by Taijul Islam saw Rajshahi Division fought back in the match as they dismissed Dhaka Metro for 328 on the second day of the tier-2 four-day 19th National Cricket League held on Thursday at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
Dhaka Metro resumed their first innings on the second day (Thursday) with overnight score at 210 for 4 and finally folded their innings at 328.
Taijul, the wrecker in chief, caused the major damage as he claimed five Metro’s wickets giving away 105 runs. He was well supported by Farhad Reza who bagged three wickets for 57 runs.
Besides, Shafiul Islam took two wickets conceding 71 runs.
In reply, Rajshahi got off a good start in their first innings as they finished the second day with 95 for no loss with Mizanur Rahman and Nazmul Hossain were on the crease with 47 and 43 runs respectively at stumps.
