Najmul remanded for 3 days in rape case

A Dhaka court yesterday placed Najmul Hasan Shohag, 28, Joint Convener of Banglaesh Chhatra Adhikar Parishad on a three-day remand to quiz him in the case filed with Kotwali Police Station of the city by a Dhaka University student.
Magistrate Kanak Barua of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order on Thursday after hearing. Earlier, the Investigation Officer of the case, Kotwali Zonal Team Police Inspector (Unarmed) Md Wahiduzzaman produced the accused in the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
On Wednesday, Najmul Hasan was arrested from Rayshaheb Bazar intersection of Bangshal area in the city.
Earlier, Saiful Islam and Md Nazmul Huda of Chhatra Adhikar Parishad were placed on a two-day remand each after detectives arrested them in the case lodged on charge of rape.
Saiful Islam is the Joint Convener of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad while Nazmul Huda is a Vice-President of the front.
 The case was filed on September 22. The victim filed another case against Saiful, Nazmul, former DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur, Hasan Al Mamun, suspended convener of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad, Nazmul Hasan Sohag, Joint Convener of the front and DU student Abdullah Hil Baki with Lalbagh Police Station. She filed this case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
