Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Wednesday hinted changing the calculation of financial year from January to December instead of existing July to June.
“Earlier, a proposal came for calculating the financial year from April to March. But now some people are proposing for shifting the period to January-December from July-June. We can make a public debate in this regard,” he said.
The finance minister said this while speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) at his Secretariat in the city.
He urged all to give ideas on changing the financial year.
Earlier, economists called for shifting the calculation of financial year from April to March or January to December instead of July-June aimed at properly implementation of Annual Development Programme (ADP).
