UNB, Dhaka :
BNP joint secretary general Salauddin Ahmed on Wednesday said the court warrant for the arrest of Khaleda Zia cannot suppress their ongoing movement which is heading towards its logical consequence.
In a statement he said, “The ongoing mass movement aiming to ensure stability, peace and prosperity and fulfilling national desire for establishing a democratic governing system is heading towards its logical consequence.”
“The absurd plan of the government to subdue the movement, which has the spontaneous participation of the grassroots people with an arrest warrant is nothing but the paucity of its thinking…the arrest warrant can’t hold back the movement. It rather exposes the regime’s bankruptcy,” the BNP leader added.
He said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is ready to make any sacrifice for the welfare of the nation and the country and emancipation of the mass people.
Salauddin alleged the government is shutting down the media outlets one after another without any reason as part of its oppression and suppression policy.
He said the government has recently closed down online news portal justnewsbad.com
as its owner and Editor Mushfiq Fazal Ansari is taking part in the press conference of the UN secretary general’s office in favour of people of Bangladesh.
The BNP leader said the government through its efforts to control the media has demonstrated its helplessness and apprehension about people.
He demanded the government immediately reopen all the closed media outlets and release all the arrested editors, journalists and owners of the media houses.
Salauddin alleged that law enforcers raided the house of Feni’s Fatehpur Chhatra Dal leader Arifur Rahman and beat his elderly father Mofizur Rahman having failed to detain the JCD leader.
“We don’t have any word to condemn such a brutal killing. Dangerous killing incidents are taking place regularly in Nazi style at the behest of the Prime Minister,” he added.
The BNP leader warned that the government is gradually narrowing its safe exit route by resorting to killings, enforced disappearances, abductions and mass arrest.
