Two senior BNP leaders got engaged in an altercation in the meeting of the party’s standing committee in presence of the party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
The party standing committee members Barrister Moudud Ahmed and
Goyeshwar Chandra Roy got engaged in the altercation on Wednesday night at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office in the city.
The meeting sources said that Moudud Ahmed criticised Goyeshwar Chandra Roy for a recent comment of Goyeshwar saying ‘all the courts are confined in the Mujib coat’.
The sources said, Moudud Ahmed took exception with Goyeshwar’s comment, saying that such statements would hamper the process of getting bail for the detained leaders and activists of the party. In reply, Goyeshwar branded Moudud as ‘not-dedicated to the party’ while explaining logic in favour of his statement.
The tow leaders earlier on November 8 at a standing committee meeting exchanged similar words in presence of the party chief, who had asked them to keep quiet.
In that meeting, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy had pointed the finger at Moudud Ahmed and some others, blaming them for plotting to split the party and maintaining liaison with the government. Moudud protested saying that the allegation is not true.
