A Dhaka court on Sunday handed out death penalty to Ayesha Humayra Esha and her lover Shamsuzzaman Arif alias Baku for killing her five-year-old son Samiul Azim Wafi at Adabor in Dhaka in 2010.
Judge of the Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-4 Sheikh Nazmul Alam delivered the verdict this afternoon. Both of them were absconding when the judgment was delivered.
On November 23, the court fixed December 8 for pronouncing the judgment. However, the pronouncement was deferred to December 20 as the verdict was not prepared.
According to the prosecution, Esha and Baku strangulated Samiul to death on June 23, 2010 as hewitnessed their illicit affairs.
His body was recoveredfrom Nabodoy Housing Area in Adabor the following day.
On June 24, Samiul’s father filed the murder case against the duo with Adabor Police Station.
Police submitted a charge-sheet against them on October 25, 2012.
