BSS :
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday said about 45 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccines have arrived afresh in the country and more vaccines will reach in time.
“The BNP’s ill-politics over coronavirus vaccines has failed. About 45 lakh doses of vaccine have already arrived in the country and more vaccines will come in time,” he said while speaking at a press briefing on contemporary issues at his official residence here.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said Bangladesh will able to procure the required vaccine shots under the diplomatic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said the government has given top priority to the collection of vaccines for protecting the lives of the country’s people, which is a clear reflection of its long-term commitment to them.
Mentioning that there is no oxygen crisis in the country, Quader said the prime minister has already asked the health ministry to take proper steps to ensure adequate oxygen supply in areas where it is an urgent now.
There is no alternative to building fort at household level to prevent the rising trend of coronavirus infection, he said, adding that all should take optimum cautionary measures against the invisible enemy.
Responding to the criticism of BNP leaders over the premier’s speech in 13th sessions of parliament, the AL general secretary said this criticism of BNP is just an exercise of denying the shining truth.
He said although the BNP leaders randomly made harsh remarks, they could not say clearly which statement of the parliament leader was untrue.
In fact, Quader said, the speech of the leader of the parliament was a hard truth of history.
He said BNP does politics depending on falsehood and it is very normal that the party will get hurt if the truth is revealed.

BNP run the country’s politics towards the path of conspiracy and assassination and that is why it cannot accept the truth, he added.

The AL general secretary said the BNP leaders have forgotten that their chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is a convicted, while they themselves lingered the trial of Begum Zia’s case by wasting time for months.

“If the case filed (against Begum Zia) by the caretaker government was false, then why the BNP lawyers could not prove it? BNP leaders are now playing one kind of mysterious game with Begum Zia’s case, release and treatment,” he said.

Noting that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has showed more humanitarian attitude towards Begum Zia, Quader said considering her age and health, the premier has given Khaleda Zia the opportunity to stay at home and receive medical treatment by suspending her jail sentence.
“So, you (BNP leaders) should be grateful to Sheikh Hasina’s generosity,” he added.

He said working relationship is very important in politics or running a state and that is
why Sheikh Hasina has repeatedly extended her hand of generosity to BNP.

“But, you (BNP leaders) closed the door and hided yourselves behind the wall. You like
the politics of remaining behind the curtain,” Quader added.
