More allocation for edn sector demanded

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique on Wednesday demanded more fund for education sector in the budget every year. Our education sector comprises secondary and higher secondary, technical
education and higher education. The VC said it at a programme titled “Higher Education, Development of Women Entrepreneur and Analyses and Observation of New Vat Policy” organized by Center On Budget And Policy at Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom of the university. He said, present government is giving priority to women education. That is why women are coming forward in all fields.
About 50 percent of our population are women. So developments are not possible without them.
DU Treasurer and Chairman of Center On Budget And Policy Professor Kamal Uddin presided over the function, while Professor Bazlul Haq Khandaker and Professor Mohammad Abu Yousuf presented the key-note papers.
Jahangir Hossain, Member of National Revenue Board, Professor Rahmat Ullah, Dean of Law Faculty of DU and Naznin Ahmed, Senior Research Fellow of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies underscored role of women in nation building.
