Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club eased past Rahmatganj MFS by two goals to nil in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla on Wednesday.
The black-and-white outfit had a 1-0 led in the first half.
Mohammedan’s Malian forward Souleymane Diabate put his team ahead in the 3rd minute of the play.
Then Rahmatganj MFS created a good number of moves but failed to convert those.
Later, Amir Hakim Bappy of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club sealed the fate of the match just at the dying moment.
Mohammedan Sporting Club collected 15 points from nine matches, while Rahmatganj MFS earned eight points from as many matches.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra edged past Bangladesh Police Football Club by a solitary goal in the day’s other match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Muktis’ Cameroon recruit Christian scored the all-important goal by a header using the long throw of his teammate Mehedi Hasan in the 41st minute of the play.
Police got a penalty kick to level the margin just few minutes before the long whistle.
Foreign recruit of Police Ballo Famosa struck the spot-kick but Muktis’ goalie Mahmuz Hasan saved his team from danger.
After yesterday’s outcome, Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra collected seven points from eight matches, while Bangladesh Police earned eight points from as many matches.
