Police have found BRAC Bank executive Naimul Islam Saikat, who had been ‘missing’ for six days, in Chittagong.
They say he ‘went into hiding deliberately following depression over financial issues’.
The family of Naimul, a senior officer at the private bank’s Shyamoli branch in Dhaka, filed a general diary at Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station last Wednesday saying he had been missing for two days.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Biplob Kumar Sarker told bdnews24.com on Monday that they traced Naimul in Chittagong’s Hathazari on Sunday.
The police official said Naimul has already given a statement in a court, ‘confessing that he had gone into hiding himself’.
Biplob said Naimul had taken around Tk 17.5 million from people, promising them to repay with profits.
He later gave the money to a friend, who was not paying it back, sinking Naimul into depression, the DC said.
In the general diary, Naimul’s family said he went to the Tejagon Industrial Zone from Shyamoli with a friend on Dec 26.
He had told his friend that he was going to the BRAC Bank headquarters in Tejgaon, but never reached there.
The family did not have any communication with anyone demanding ransom, according to the GD.
His phone was found switched off and last spotted at Niketan in Dhaka. Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station OC Abdur Rashid said Naimul had asked to Niketan to ask his friend for the money.
As the friend could not repay, he got depressed and took a bus to Chittagong, the OC said.
Rashid said Naimul was staying in Hathazari after borrowing Tk 2,500 from another friend in Chittagong.
He came under police scanner while using his mobile phone in Hathazari, the OC said.
“When we were certain about his location, a team from Dhaka went to Hathazari and arrived in the capital on Sunday afternoon,” he said.
Police produced him before a court on Monday and the court released him under his own custody after he gave the statement describing the entire incident.
