Acting CJ says: Men of all religions have right to live in harmony

Acting Chief Justice (CJ) Md Abdul Wahhab Miah on Thursday said that man is a social being. They have to live with man of different religion, caste and language if they want to live in the same land and zone. “There are many varieties of flowers in a garden, like it, there will be a variety of people in a state or a country. Therefore, we all have to try for the development of mankind living together through solidarity and coexistence with different castes,” added the Acting CJ. He said this while addressing in ‘Bijoya Punormilani festival, a Hindu religious festival, arranged by the Supreme Court Bar Association Bijoya Reunion Council-2017 at the bar auditorium in the evening.
The Acting CJ also said, “We firmly believe that religion is one’s own but the society, the state and the festival is everyone’s. If the people can realize this spirit, then they can be inspired by the bond of brotherhood and they will be able to build a world of peace by forgetting violence and discrimination.” “Secularism is one of the main pillars of our Constitution. Our commitment grows stronger by creating favourable environment for arranging all the religious festivals,” added the Acting CJ. Supreme Court Bar President Advocate Zainul Abedin presided over the programme. Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, Bangladesh Bar Council Vice-Chairman Abdul Baset Majumder, Justice Soumendra Sarker, Bar Secretary Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan were also present in the programme.
