A court here on Tuesday awarded death sentence to a man for killing his wife in 2011.
The convict is identified as Sohel Rana, 37, son of Sabed Ali of Madhabpur village in Sreebardi upazila.
Additional Public Prosecutor Advocate Imam Hossain Thandu said Sohel slaughtered his wife Afroza on August 29, 2011 while she was asleep following a family feud.
In-laws caught him and handed him over to police after the incident and a case was filed against four people, including Sohel and his parents.
Following investigation, police submitted a charge-sheet against Sohel only dropping the names of other accused.
After examining the records and witnesses, Additional District and Session’s Judge Md Mosleh Uddin passed the order with Sohel standing in the dock.
