A Dhaka Court yesterday (Monday) sentenced a garment worker’s former lover to death for killing her in Malibagh Chowdhury Para of the city.
Judge Ruhul Amin of the Fourth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court Dhaka of pronounced the verdict on Monday. The judge also fined convict Murshed Bhuiyan, Tk 50,000.
The prosecution story says that on August 18, 2008, Murshed killed Rubi, 18, with a sharp knife while
the victim was going to Texas Garments of Malibagh Chowdhuray Para. The victim’s father lodged the murder case against the accused Murshed.
Rubi was in love with Murshed for four years. Later, the members of the victim’s family refused the marriage proposal of Murshed, which made him angry. He bought a knife to kill Rubi and did the mishap and that caused the death of the victim. Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ali of Khilgaon Police Station and also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case submitted the charge sheet of the case against Murshed on November 30, 2008.
