Man ‘kills mother, sister-in-law’ in Cumilla

A man allegedly hacked his mother and sister-in-law to death in Nangolkot upazila of Cumilla on Monday over a family feud.
Police, however, arrested accused Sayedul Haque Siki,28, a resident of Pujkara village.
The deceased were Siki’s mother Noorjahan Begum, 70, and Nurunnahar Begum Pushpa,45, wife of Siki’s elder brother Azizul Haque.
Police said Sayedul had an altercation with his mother over eating meal sent by the in-law of Azizul’s daughter Arzoo Akhter in the afternoon.
At one stage of the altercation, Sayedul hacked his mother and sister-in-law.
Arzoo and another person also received critical injuries as came for their rescue.
Locals rushed all the injured to the upazila health complex where the on-duty doctors declared the due dead.
Nangolkot police OC M Bokhtiar Uddin Chowdhury said during the initial interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime.
