Man killed in AL factional clash in Munshiganj

A young man was shot to death and three others injured, including two with bullet-wounds sustained, in a clash between two factions of Awami League at Dakhshin Charamsura village of Sadar upazila on Saturday morning over establishing supremacy.
The deceased was identified as Masud Dhali, 22, Yunus Ali, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said that there had been a dispute between two Awami League leaders – Afsar Uddin Bhuiyan Apsu, former union parishad chairman of Charkewar union and Akhteruzzaman Jibon, the incumbent chairman of the union.
The clash ensued when the supporters of Apsu from Madbarkandi village attacked the supporters of Jibon around 7am. The supporters of Apsu opened fire on the supporters of Jibon and blasted several bombs, leaving Masud dead on the spot. Two others – Md Tarif, 20, and Saiful Islam, 16, – sustained bullet injuries and another Islam Dewan was injured in bomb blast. On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional police have been deployed to avoid further untoward situation.
