A young man who was injured after being beaten allegedly by his cousin at Purba Seydnagar village of Shibpur upazila on Thursday afternoon died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the capital on Friday morning. The deceased was identified as Monir Hossain, 35, son of late Hajji Mohammad Ali of the village.
Masud, Sub-Inspector of Shibpur Police Station, said Monir’s cousin Shahadat Hossain, 28, obstructed him while he was cutting a tree on the border of their houses on Thursday afternoon.
Later, they locked into an altercation over the
issue. At one stage, Shahadat beat Monir mercilessly, leaving him critically injured. The injured was taken to Narsingdi Hospital where doctors referred him to the DMCH. He, however, succumbed to his injuries around 9:30am today. Monir’s mother filed a murder case against Shahadat in this regard.
