Endocrinologists and diabetic experts at a discussion have stressed on maintaining disciplined life, taking balanced food and conducting regular physical exercise to prevent the silent killer disease of diabetes. They made these observations at the post- walkathon discussion arranged by Rangpur Diabetic Samity (RDS) on its office premises in the city on Wednesday afternoon in observance of the World Diabetes Day-2018. The RDS in association with the district administration chalked out elaborate programmes like bringing out of the colourful walkathon, arranging free diabetic tests and discussion in observance of the day. Many people, including officials, physicians, educationists, teachers, students, business community leaders, socio-cultural and professional activists, civil society members and elite participated in the walkathon that paraded the main city streets.
Deputy Director (Local Government) for Rangpur Ruhul Amin Mian attended the discussion as the chief guest with Acting Vice-president of RDS Professor Dr Muhammad Rezaul Haq in the chair.
President of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce, former FBCCI Vice-President and General Secretary of RDS Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu delivered welcome speech narrating objectives of observance of the day. Head of the Department of Endocrinology of Rangpur Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) and renowned diabetic expert Professor Dr Abu Laik Ahmed Khan delivered the keynote presentation as the main discussant.
