Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh-backed mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mahi B Chowdhury met BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday night and urged her to vote him.
Mahi had been at Khaleda’s Gulshan residence around 10pm and stayed there for around 40 minutes. He also wished her happy Bangla New Year with a bouquet.
“I’m like her child. I had been at her residence to wish her on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh. As she is a voter of Dhaka north city, I also sought vote and blessings from her,” he told UNB.
Asked whether they discussed any thing about the city polls, Mahi said, “She asked me how I’m going with my election campaign. And I replied it’s going on in full swing.”
The BDB leader said, he also went to Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad’s residence with a bouquet to wish him on the occasion.
As Ershad was not available, Mahi sent the bouquet as mark of greetings on the Bangla New Year.
When BNP was in quandary over backing a candidate for the mayoral post of the DNCC following the cancellation of nomination of its leader Abdul Awal Mintoo, Mahi at a press conference sought BNP’s support for him.
