Kurigram district clinched title of the Bashundhara Group Independence Cup Kabaddi competition beating Madaripur district by 56-36 points in the final held on Sunday at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium.
The winners led the first half by 7-0 pints.
Earlier, on way the final, Kurigram district outplayed Khulna district by 53-47 points with three credible ‘lona’ in the first semi-final while Kurigram district defeated Sylhet district by 39-35 points in the second semis also held at the same venue.
The champions received Taka 1,00,000 while the runners-up got Taka 50,000 as prize money.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder MP was the chief guest in the final and distributed the prizes.
Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation president and Inspector General of Police Dr M Javed Patwari, were among others, also present in the prize distribution ceremony.
