Awami League Presidium Member Advocate Sahara Khatun urged BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia not to play a political game with forced disappearances of people and the killing incident of Narayanganj.
“Prime Minister has been dealing personally with the Narayanganj incident. She has assured the nation that no culprit would be spared. We hope you will not indulge in any game with the incident. Convey us if you have got any proposal,” she said pointing at Begum Zia.
Advocate Sahara Khatun made the call on Wednesday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
Bangladesh Nagorik Seba Sangha (BNS) organised the discussion on “Containing crimes and resisting ill-culture” at the Public
Library in the capital with its adviser Chitta Ranjan Das in the chair. Dhaka City Awami League Organising Secretary Shahe Alam Murad and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana were the discussants, among others.
Advocate Sahara Khatun, former Home Minister to the previousAwami League-led grand alliance government, said, “RAB (Rapid Action Battalion) can’t be abolished but reforms could be brought-in in the elite force.”
Pointing at the BNP leadership, the Awami League leader said, “You could not topple the government during the past five years of its tenure and you will not succeed over the next five years also. Kindly, don’t create anarchy in the country. Otherwise, the government would be compelled to go for necessary action.”
