Khaleda blames AL for killings, abductions

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has alleged that the ruling Awami League and its different front bodies are involved with abduction and killing across the country. “The AL-led present government is illegal. It can’t stop these incidents, as the ruling party men are committing these. So, a legal and elected government only can stop abduction and killing,” she said while addressing a discussion on Wednesday,She alleged that the Awami League, Juba League and Chhatra League are also sheltering militants in the country. “No one is now safe in the country due to terrorism of the ruling party and the frond bodies.” Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (JAGPA) arranged the discussion in the Institutions of Diploma Engineers in the city to mark its 34th founding anniversary. JAGPA chief Shafiul Alam Prodhan chaired the function while BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and top leaders of other partners of the 19-party alliance also addressed it.  Khaleda Zia said it appears there is no government in the country. “The AL retained the power changing the constitution in its favour. This government has no legal basis. It is an illegal government. A fresh poll is needed under a non-party caretaker government to establish a legal and elected government,” she said.About sharp rising of abduction and killing, she said that this kind of abductions and killings can’t take place in a civil society. It has to be stopped. The downfall of the government has to be ensured through a mass movement. Then the abduction and killing will be stopped, she said. The former prime minister called upon the people to be united under the 19-party alliance for a mass movement against the government. She also talked about the water sharing of the River of Teesta and other common rivers. The present government has failed to realise the rightful share water of these rivers, including the Teesta, she alleged.She also came down heavily on the present Election Commission and said that the EC was working as a puppet body of the government. He demanded resignation of the commission.  Referring to abductions and killing of NCC panel mayor Nazrul Islam and others, Mirza Fakrul said that the country has been turned into a death-valley. The country has to be freed from the hands of the Awami League, he said.
