Police on Wednesday afternoon submitted two charge-sheets to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and 26 others in two cases filed with Darussalam Police Station of the city on the charge of arson attacks last year.
M Shahidur Rahman and Abdur Razzak, Sub-Inspectors of the police station, separately submitted the charge sheets. Khaleda Zia has been shown ‘order giver’ in the charge-sheets of both the cases. Of the cases, one was filed for criminal offence, while the other filed under the Special Powers Act.
BNP leader Aman Ullah Aman, Kamal Hossain, Khaleda Zia, Mir Sarfat Ali Safu, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel and Ashifa Ashrafi have been shown fugitives in the charge-sheets. Meanwhile, the two-SI’s appealed to the court for issuance of warrant of arrest.
The cases were filed on February 4 and March 3, 2015 for creating sabotage in Shah Ali Mazar and Gabtali Bus Stand areas of the city.
